Water Desalination Plants
What is the process of desalination?
The removal of salt and contaminants from saltwater to generate fresh water is known as desalination. The reverse osmosis method is used in our desalination facilities. The desalination plant receives seawater from the ocean and filters it to remove the majority of the big and minute particles.
The filtered saltwater is then pumped under pressure through specific membranes, reversing the osmosis process that happens naturally. Because the membrane holes are so small, salt, bacteria, viruses, and other pollutants are isolated from the saltwater. They function essentially as minuscule strainers. Approximately half of the seawater that enters the facility becomes fresh drinking water. The salt and other contaminants extracted from sea water are subsequently reintroduced to the ocean via diffusers, ensuring rapid mixing and minimizing influence on the marine ecosystem.
Before it reaches our consumers, the desalinated water is subjected to further treatment to satisfy drinking water requirements.
